**Due to COVID-19, weekly in-person rehearsals for the band and choir have yet to resume. To play or sing for our online worship service, email our music director Berit Goetz for instructions.

"What kind of music do you do at Good Shepherd?"

Our music is grounded in the rhythms of Anglican worship. On Sundays, song selections take their cue from the lectionary (the readings for the day) and the liturgical calendar. (Lent, Easter, Christmastide, etc.)

Within these parameters, we draw from the breadth and richness of Christian worship locally and globally. The Church is a living family whose members speak to one another across time and space! This means that on Sunday you’ll hear music from a range of sources and styles—never a disconnected hodge-podge of songs. Music is chosen from a coherent variety of Christian voices that converge and theologically “harmonize” with one another for the glory of God and the building-up of the congregation.

We believe music ministry is just that--a ministry, not a performance. We believe the arts are a place of pastoral care and relational connection, and so we pair experienced artists with emerging musicians on our team. Seasoned musicians can expect to be challenged and given responsibility for the scope of their talents. Emerging musicians can expect to learn concrete musical skills. All, however, will grow as disciples of Christ and servant-leaders of our congregation.

“How can I get involved?”

There is no audition to join Good Shepherd’s music ministry! You may sing in the choir (typically a classical choral anthem), sing as a vocalist in the band, or play as an instrumentalist. Musicians span the decades from youth to the over-70 crowd, and contribute to services on a rotating basis.
