What is Godly Play?
Godly Play is an imaginative approach to using the stories of God and our faith to explore meaning, relationship, prayer and tradition. After a story is told using visual, tangible materials, we engage in a dialogue of “wondering,” to help us to become more fully aware of God’s mysteries, our place in God’s story, and God’s presence in our own lives. Afterwards, there is a “response time” when individuals take time to process and integrate the experience through art, imaginative play, or journaling. Godly Play is for everyone – children, teens, parents, grandparents, and friends. Godly Play has been used for decades in faith communities, homes, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, and other settings with people of all ages! |
