Discipled for Worship

“…I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.”

John 10:15-16

Our services come from a rich historical tradition and are facilitated out of deep conviction. Are you looking for a church where the worship is rooted in ancient mysteries? Look no further. We draw from the breadth and richness of Christian worship locally and globally. Read more to learn about our two Sunday services.

At Good Shepherd, once children have reached middle school they are invited to train as acolytes. Want to know more about training and serving? Contact our Rector, the Rev’d Natalie Van Kirk!

8 AM Holy Eucharist without Music

We get it. Singing isn’t for everyone. You might connect better with our spoken Eucharist service, which features more formal language and meditative prayer. Afterward, grab a seat in our fellowship hall for 9:15 AM formation.

Musicians of all experience levels and ages are invited to join our 10:15 AM worship band and choir. Contact our Music Director, Berit Goetz, for more information!

10:15 AM Holy Eucharist with Music

Prefer a more modern service? Try our later service where you’ll sing both hymns and contemporary worship songs, led by our praise band and choir. Stay for coffee and fellowship afterward. (Don’t worry, the wifi password is posted throughout the building.)

Up a bit earlier? Looking for community and learning? Join us for formation at 9:15 AM. Not quite feeling up to the commute? This service is live-streamed on YouTube, too.

Contemplative Services

Morning Prayer currently meets Tuesdays online at 7 AM. Together this group participates in the daily office of morning prayer, reflects on that day’s scripture passages, and shares more personal prayer requests with one another.

Contact Evelyn Weems for the meeting link!

Centering Prayer currently meets Mondays in the sanctuary at 9:00 AM, and Fridays on Zoom at 9:00 AM. (Please contact Jane Eggers for the meeting link.)

Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer––prayer in which we experience God's presence within us. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.

Lectio Divina meets in the sanctuary on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, at 9:30 AM, following Centering Prayer, and on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 6 PM. This is a lay-led service that provides time and space for intentional meditation on scripture. Afterward, all participants share a meal together in Herlong Hall.
